Yesterday night, I joined Nalanda's Wesak Procession for World Peace. It was a short procession around the area where Nalanda Dharma Center is situated. But we walked slowly, mindfully, quietly. The distant beats of the drums, chimes and bells guided us. The sedan on which the Buddha rupa sat was carried with utmost respect and dignity. The nagas flew to and fro, providing the blessings and motivation to carry on. And throughout the procession, I was chanting "Peace. Harmony. Peace. Harmony."
The crowd which turned out was amazing, but of course won't match the sheer scale of the procession organized by the Buddhist Maha Vihara in Brickfields. However, I feel that the Nalanda procession is much more meaningful, and indeed feels more spiritual than the Brickfields one.
